Job Summary:
This role offers a unique opportunity to play a key part in shaping our new Client Infrastructure team. As a Client Infrastructure Engineer, you will not only contribute to the stability, reliability and performance of our customer deployments but you will also be part of a great talented team with a very exciting future at Assured DP as we scale our operations using the latest data protection technologies!
 
The role is ideally suited to a highly skilled and motivated Infrastructure Engineer who has experience working in large, distributed server environments with deep expertise in layer three (L3) networking and a strong background in physical and virtual infrastructure.
 
As part of our service delivery our installs team deploy at least one physical HPe server on a customer site. This server is built automatically using an automated inhouse developed process called Deployview. The goal of this automation is to allow our install teams to deliver consistent, secured and functioning service equipment to customer sites to get it installed reliably and swiftly every time. These servers are shipped globally, usually built in two locations (Leeds and New York) but are sometimes built further afield in hard to ship countries like India and China.
 
This equipment calls home to our data centres, allowing us to monitor and manage, and in most cases replicate the protected data back to one of our data centres for DR services.
 
Supporting this DR environment, customers often have equipment, physical or virtual hosted in our Data Centres. This team also supports these environments.
 
The role will involve contributing to the product roadmap for Deployview, responding to issues during the build process, supporting the install teams, responding to deviations in the supply chain for our servers and keeping the equipment out on customer sites uniform, secure, up to date and supportable.
 
It will also involve supporting our customers colo environments and working closely with our dedicated support teams to resolve any issues with customer kit, performance, connectivity etc that support is unable to fix.
 
The build operations are global, and we operate across multiple time zones. The goal for this role is normal office hours in US Eastern, but there may be rare times when support outside these hours is required from this role.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Duties may include, but are not restricted to the following:
 
  • Responding to tickets, troubleshooting build issues in a timely manner
  • Performance monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Client-side Firewall and VPN configuration and troubleshooting
  • On site hardware diagnosis and remediation
  • Automation of updates
  • Work of the Deployview Roadmap
  • Work of the customer server BOMs
  • Document configurations and procedures

Desired Technical Experience:
  • Strong understanding of L3 networking including routing, IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs and NAT
  • High proficiency in configuring and managing VPNs with IPsec and OpenVPN.
  • Solid hands-on experience with Firewalls e.g. Fortinet, Palo Alto and pfSense.
  • Ability to troubleshoot compute, network or storage bottlenecks and breakdown complex issues.
  • Proficient with VMware ESXi and esxcli tools.
  • Automation / scripting with tools such as PowerShell, Bash or Ansible.
  • Server Hardware building, HPe preferred.
  • Disk and Raid storage technologies including disk encryption methods.
  • Performance tuning of network and server infrastructure.
  • Experience in an environment where security and network protection are priority.
